I had always heard legends about the East Coast of Canada. I've heard tales of the ocean with cod and marine life, including the lobsters, puffins, and whales. I've heard stories of fishermen going out to sea, to return with a daily catch. I've heard about glimpses of icebergs, and stories about moose in the night. Some of my family hails from Rothesay, New Brunswick, others have visited Peggy's Cove, and some relatives still live in Halifax, Nova Scotia today. I had the chance to travel to the East Coast in the summer of 2007, I traveled for two months from Utopia in New Brunswick to Cartwright in Labrador, and I didn't forget to see Newfoundland, Cape Breton, and Nova Scotia along the way. Not only did I have the opportunity to enjoy a workshop with Freeman Patterson, but I also had the chance to see mountains, oceans, forest, beaches, moose, puffins, whales, macros of rocks and shells, tons of great vistas, and a lot of nice people. The oceans are being depleted, and litter frequently drifts into shore, but people are still generally kind hearted, and there are still many small towns where you can escape the busy pace of the city. I have to admit that the lobster near Fundy National Park is delicious, but one of the greatest thrills was traveling to Labrador as far north as the road would take me.

"Green Raven Photography believes that the environment should be protected. Today the landscape and the environment are changing widely. To enjoy the benefits of vast amounts of wilderness, we have to appreciate the beauty of the wild that we have today, and see the importance of protecting it. Noah Cole of Green Raven Photography travels across Canada and across borders to show nature and travel photography as windows to the wild."

10% of the show will be donated to the Nature Conservancy of Canada

The show has thus far had great reviews, and if you go to the corner of Queen and University you'll see my name in big letters at the Campbell House corner post. People really enjoy the moose, the macros, the birds, the forestscapes, and the beach scenes. If you're in the area on Queen Street come on by, let the warm atmosphere of the gallery and my windows to the wild provide you with moments of intrigue and serenity, and insight into places you don't usually get to see in our own backyard.
